Not only is AI driving up demand for semiconductors, it is also becoming integrated into their manufacture, corporate leaders say Artificial intelligence is no longer merely the driving force behind global semiconductor demand,
Tech advocacy groups warn that foreign nationals at AI companies like OpenAI and Google pose a national security threat amid a lack of federal oversight.
Data attribution methods for Language Models (LMs) are typically evaluated using downstream tasks like fact retrieval. However, existing evaluations vary multiple dataset properties simultaneously, making it impossible to isolate exactly why an attribution algorithm fails. To diagnose these failures, we explore the design space of LLM data attribution, with a primary focus on evaluation. We introduce the Controlled Attribution Benchmark (CATT) for fact tracing, in which we fine-tune LLMs on entirely fictitious knowledge, providing unambiguous ground truth for attribution. This synthetic setup allows us to systematically alter one dataset configuration at a time, such as document redundancy and lexical distractors. With this configurable evaluation, we demonstrate that redundancy and distractors consistently degrade attribution performance. Rather than proposing a new estimator, we examine two design choices that are underexplored: the loss used to compute gradients and how per-token attribution scores are aggregated into a document score. We find that the true causal evidence within a training document is highly localized, but standard methods dilute this evidence into noise by…
In Nanbeige4.3, we take a foundational step toward pushing the boundaries of lightweight agents. Our strategy centers on building a high-capacity teacher agent first, which will subsequently anchor the distillation of advanced agentic capabilities into smaller models.
Deploying vision-and-language navigation (VLN) agents in unseen environments remains challenging because unfamiliar layouts and visual conditions can cause execution to go off track. Rather than relying on continuous human supervision, a practical strategy is to selectively…
Agent harnesses often improve language models with human-designed workflows, but as models grow more capable, unreliable guidance can increasingly constrain their execution. We call the ability to benefit from useful guidance while overriding unreliable guidance thinking…
Metacognition involves reasoning about cognitive processes themselves. An example is in resource allocation where we choose how much time and effort to put into a reasoning task before we begin based on our confidence. Current Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems that rely on…
Generating full-body co-speech motion for humanoid robots requires coordinating speech prosody, linguistic content, and embodiment-specific motion. To this end, we present ECHO-G, a framework jointly conditioned on speech audio and timed transcripts. Its Speech-Grounded…
